This is a kicked up version of the mini hot dogs rolled up in a crescent. The hot dog is replaced with a small bratwurst and the crescent is replaced with puff pastry.
Ingredients:
- 3 cooked beef bratwurst
- 1 package puff pastry, defrosted
- 2 eggs
- 1 tbs brown mustard
- 1 tsp water
Directions:
- Pre-heat the oven to 400 degrees.
- Quarter the bratwurst along the length, then cut each quarter in half.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a 16-by-18 inch rectangle. Whisk one egg then mix with the mustard. Brush on the surface of the puff pastry. Light cut the pastry into 3-by3 inch squares.
- Roll up bratwurst pieces in the pasty strips. Start on the corner and roll. Wrap the excess on each end back on the bratwurst.
- Set the bratwurst rolls on a baking sheet. Whisk together the other egg with water; brush each roll on all sides.
- If making ahead of time, refrigerate at this point.
- Cook in the oven until the pastry is puffed and golden brown, about 15 minutes.
- Dip in favorite BBQ sauce or mustard.
