Taste Notes: Single Malt & Single Hop brewing is a great way to show off the taste of a great hop. In this case, we showcased the Nugget hop and specifically, home grown nugget hops that were picked and dried in Illinois. The nugget hop has a high alpha acid content which is usually in the 12-14% range. Being home grown, we do not know exactly where this batch falls, but the relatively small quantity of dry whole hops that were added to this batch brought a higher percieved bitterness which made this Pale Ale into and Indian Pale Ale. The nugget hop brings a strong herbal aroma and a slight woody/spicy taste at the end. This is a simple but well recieved brew and will be repeated soon.
